Meet the Hosts

Brendan Peery

Local News and Station Operations Manager

Brendan Davis Peery went to Pescadero Schools, then worked as an audio engineer for eight years before becoming a School Bus driver in Pescadero. He is well known in Pescadero, and has been the Audio Engineer for KPDO since 2023, taking the mic for the morning and evening local news hours. Brendan also trains bilingual students to use the radio’s broadcast equipment to make weather, traffic, and news announcements.

Brendan enjoys what he does and his humor is contagious. His first student, within a matter of weeks, had completely taken on all the English and Spanish language announcements during commute hours. Brendan looks forward to helping other bilingual students have the same success. He also works with anyone of any age who wants to learn to operate the broadcast equipment either to record or to broadcast live in the studio.

Neil Panton

Music of the South Coast

A local musician and songwriter living in San Gregorio since 1999, Neil has been a music lover all his life. He began performing on the concert stage at the age of 12 and continues to play with numerous bands and ensembles throughout the Bay Area. Neil can be heard monthly at the San Gregorio Store with friends and musical buddies as The NAPsters.

Besides music, he’s an avid hiker and very involved in local emergency communications with ham radio. He is also a director of the San Gregorio Environmental Resource Center (SGERC) which works to preserve and protect our beautiful watershed.

The idea for the Pescadero Public Radio show “Music of the San Mateo Coast” came during COVID when folks in the local community were not able to go out and hear their favorite musicians. The San Mateo coast is unusual in supporting original music and this show was a means to bring familiar and not-so-familiar music to the community again. The show presents musicians who live or have lived here, perform here, or have recorded music here.

Chris Siehr

Old Friends Radio

Chris was exposed to radio in 1976 while delivering pizzas to a Wisconsin radio station. In 1978, at the age of 18, he obtained his FCC Broadcasters license and started at WTTN Watertown, Wisconsin. Chris has worked on the air throughout the midwest states. While Chris worked as an investigator, radio and jazz were always his first love. Chris also works as an audio and

broadcast engineer setting up radio stations and streams for all sorts of folks. While working for various radio stations, Chris collected what they threw out. As 78 and 45 RPM records were discarded, Chris would literally take them from the dumpster, keep and catalog these records. Later 33 RPM records were discarded in favor of CDs and, of course, Chris grabbed them as well. Chris now has a large collection of Classic Vintage Jazz. That is what you hear on KPDO and Old Friends Radio.

Chris believes his collection is an anthropological map of the history of Jazz and thereby the base history of all modern music and its people. Furthermore, Chris feels that this music is proof of America’s collective past. Politicians may attempt to erase our history and ban books, but one cannot ban sound. From great pain and suffering comes beautiful music.
